Nick Diaz to see plastic surgeon
The Fight Network is reporting that Nick Diaz will seek the assistance of a plastic surgeon to remove the scar tissue that has formed around his eyes. Here's the skinny:
Nick Diaz will seek out the assistance of Las Vegas-based plastic surgeon Frank Stile in order to repair the considerable scar tissue that has developed around his eyes. Kit Cope, the man who cornered the 24-year-old in his failed attempt to win the EliteXC lightweight title at EliteXC "Renegade" on Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas, made the announcement after the bout.
Here's a little more info from Kit Cope:
"He didn't get hit with anything hard," Cope said. "It's just that he's got some gnarly cuts. There were a couple of fights [in his past] where he got cut and then band aided it, you know... didn't get any good stitches, so he's got a lot of scar tissue. You breathe on the guy, and he gets cut."
A board certified plastic surgeon and avid MMA fan, Stile has been training with Cope, a former muay Thai champion, at his gym in Las Vegas.
"We're going to get his eyes fixed up," Cope said. "There's something they can do to actually fix the scars that makes them a lot smaller. [Stile is] going to have him fixed up so he doesn't split open so easy. We're going to go ahead and do that, have another warm-up fight and then come back and snag the title back that belongs to him."
Kimbo Slice makes a dominating debut defeating Bo Cantrell by tapout due to strikes 19 seconds into the first round. KJ Noons captured the 160 lb. lightweight title by defeating Nick Diaz after the doctor stopped the fight due to cuts above both of Nick's eyes suffered in the first round.

KJ Noons is going to get his ass kicked
I think that Fightlinker has the right idea on this one:
I don't really mind that much because I'll enjoy watching Nick punk this bitch. But I do feel bad for Diaz. To come off a win against one of the top lightweights in the world and now be stuck fighting scrubsmust be pretty damned frustrating. Not only does Nick not get any props for beating these guys, he's putting his rep on the line every time he steps into the cage to fight. If he gets caught and knocked out by one of these upstart challengers, that would do hella damage to his rep. These fights are all risk and no gain for him.

EliteXC Updates; Kimbo Slice vs Bo Cantrell
EliteXC held a conference call yesterday to promote their next event on Nov. 10 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The card is scheduled to be televised by Showtime at 10 p.m. ET.
Gary Shaw clearly defined what weight classes the EliteXC would have; EliteXC will have divisions at 140 lbs., 150 lbs., 160 lbs., 170 lbs., 185 lbs., light heavyweight (186-205), heavyweight (206-265), and a super heavyweight (265-plus). The 160 Lb. division will be known as their Lightweight division.
Mike Bourke was scheduled to fight Kimbo Slice but had to drop out due to injury at the November 10th event. This is to be Kimbo's debut with the promotion. Shaw also confirmed Bo Cantrell, who lost last Saturday to Brad Imes in a King of the Cage show via gogoplata, has been signed as a replacement to fight Slice.
Sam Caplan has a full run down of the conference call here.
As always, Steve Cofield has audio from the presser.

Nick Diaz to fight KJ Noons for EliteXC 160 lb. Title
Sam Caplan @ ProElite is reporting that Nick Diaz will take on KJ Noons for EliteXC's 160 lb. title. This will be the first time that promotion will crown a 160 lb. champ. The organizations only other Champion is Robbie Lawler at 185, who recently stopped Ninja Rua in September to win the strap.
They are set to fight on Nov. 10 at EliteXC's next event. Jake Shields, one of Nick Diaz's training partners, is also set to take on Mike Pyle from Xtreme Couture. Kimbo Slice is set to make his EliteXC debut after they announced he had been signed to EliteXC to a long term contract. There's also a chance we might get to see Gina Carrano too.
The championship bout comes of the news that EliteXC had also wrapped up Nick Diaz with a long term contract as well.
